Getting started

1. Install it

Download the installer for Windows and run it. Windows may ask you to confirm before it runs the installer: choose More info, then Run anyway.

2. Choose an engine

The first time you open Spectrum Dicta, the Dictation screen offers a recommended local model. It downloads once and then works without internet.

Prefer a cloud engine? Open Models, choose a provider, paste your API key and press Activate. You can switch between local and remote whenever you like.

3. Dictate

1. Put the cursor where you want to write: an email, a document, a chat.
2. Press Ctrl + Space and speak. A small pill at the top of the screen shows it’s listening.
3. Press Ctrl + Space again. Your words appear at the cursor.

Would you rather hold the key while you speak? Turn on Push To Talk in Settings › General, where you can also change the shortcut.

What it costs to run

Local models cost nothing. With a remote engine, the provider bills you directly for what you use; that cost isn’t included in the price of Spectrum Dicta.

Updates

Your purchase includes one year of updates. To receive them, enter your licence key in Settings › About. After that year, Spectrum Dicta keeps working with every feature.
